Friends and Home Alone have remained two of the 1990's most-revered comedy classics to this day, and as fans of the NBC sitcom prepare for HBO Max's reunion special and Home Alone nears its 30th anniversary, it seems like a perfect time to examine an obscure connection between the two properties: the famous McCallister House.

As any fan of the movie could tell you, Home Alone's primary action is set in and around the house of the film's protagonist, Kevin McCallister, as he defends his home and himself from the "Wet Bandits," but what many Friends fans may not know is Kevin's parents just might have sold the house he so zealously guarded to none other than Mrs. Monica Geller and Mr. Chandler Bing.

Throughout its final season, the sitcom's beloved married couple makes some major life changes. They adopted the soon-to-be-born twins of a girl from Ohio and begin to buy a house in preparation of their birth, eventually finding an ideal place just outside the city. Viewers finally got to see the house when the couple brought their friend Joey to see it, and although the interiors don't quite seem to match up with the movie, the view is exactly the same.

This particular detail wasn't caught until the woman living in the actual house at which Home Alone was filmed noticed that the view through Monica and Chandler's living room windows was the same view she could see through her own. She eventually shared this discovery with 22 Vision, who put eventually created a video about the discovery.

Though the connection is strange and obscure, the explanation is rather straightforward and is likely the result of Friends' production team simply reusing backdrops and b-roll footage from the hit movie. It's common practice to save elements of a show and movie's production so they can be reused in later projects, and this connection is almost certainly an example of that.

In fact, it's entirely possible that the Friends editor who made this choice didn't even realize where the backdrop came from and simply chose it from a digital library without any knowledge of the original source. The fact that it took someone who was literally living in the actual house and happened to be watching this particular episode of Friends to spot the connection seems to add weight to this general idea.

Unfortunately, this connection does not seem enough to imagine that Home Alone and Friends take place within the same "universe." In addition to the fact that the interiors of the two houses do not match in the slightest, Kevin McCallister's fight against the "Wet Bandits" is set in Winnetka, IL and the Bing's house is meant to be in Westchester, NY.

However, even though it doesn't mean that the McCallisters eventually sold their house to Monica and Chandler, it is still a fun connection between two beloved franchises that fans of both can enjoy.
