After a very long time in development, the cast of Friends has finally reached a deal to return for a special on Warner Bros.' upcoming HBO Max streaming platform.

According to Variety, stars Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Courteney Cox will receive more than $2.5 million each for the unscripted special. The cast will return to Stage 24 in Burbank, California, where the original series was filmed.

Friends aired from 1994 to 2004 on NBC. The popular sitcom aired 236 episodes and has remained a culturally significant show since finishing its run. The entirety of Friends was previously available to stream on Netflix, where it was one of the most-watched shows on the streaming service. However, the series left Netflix at the start of the year, with Warner Bros. intending to instead put the show on HBO Max at launch.

The untitled Friends special, which is directed by Ben Winston, will be available when HBO Max launches. Original executive producers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane will also return to work on the special. HBO Max launches this May.
