New details have emerged regarding Fred Savage's firing from ABC's The Wonder Years reboot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, six women on The Wonder Years crew came forward in February, with reports about Savage's behavior towards several women on the production, prompting an immediate investigation. At the time of his firing in May, no details regarding the alleged misconduct had been revealed. However, several crewmembers have opened up to THR about the misconduct, with complaints against Savage including verbal harassment and an alleged assault of a former crewmember.

While Savage has faced allegations of inappropriate behavior previously in his career -- including once in 1993 and again while he was working on Fox's The Grinder -- no evidence of wrongdoing was found. However, the women working on The Wonder Years claimed that other actors and executives for the series saw Savage's "absolute perfect and best face," while a different side was shown to "below-the-line employees who don’t have power."

In particular, one of the anonymous women speaking to THR noted the "strangeness" of Savage's relationship with a much younger crewmember, with another saying that he was "manipulative" and "extremely controlling of her daily behaviors." Another anonymous crew member also claimed that she had been assaulted by Savage in a bar bathroom after she had been fired from the show.

According to several crewmembers, while Savage exhibited inappropriate behavior towards multiple women on set, it was his relationship with the young crewmember that prompted them to come forward. "These men in charge know what the public is looking for and they know what words to use," said one. "We all felt supported by Fred. We truly thought he supported women. He told us he supported women. But this kind of support isn’t real."

In a statement to THR, Savage claimed that he has always "strived to contribute to an inclusive, safe and supportive work environment" and that it was "devastating to learn that there are co-workers who feel I have fallen short of these goals." He stated, "While there are some incidents being reported that absolutely did not and could not have happened, any one person who feels hurt or offended by my actions is one person too many. I will work to address and change any behavior that has negatively affected anyone, as nothing in this world is more important to me than being a supportive co-worker, friend, husband, father and person.”

Savage was fired from ABC's The Wonder Years reboot in May after an investigation surrounding allegations of misconduct. At the time, no specific details about the complaints were disclosed. "Recently, we were made aware of allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fred Savage, and as is policy, an investigation was launched," 20th Television, the production company behind the Wonder Years reboot, said in a statement. "Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his employment as an executive producer and director of The Wonder Years."

The Wonder Years originally aired for six seasons from 1988 to 1993 and starred Savage as Kevin Arnold. The series was narrated by an adult Kevin (Daniel Stern) looking back on his childhood growing up in a white middle-class family in a 1960s suburb. Savage served as a director and producer on ABC's reboot of the original series.
