Warning: Don't read this if you haven't watched last night's episode of American Horror Story: Asylum, "I Am Anne Frank: Part 2," because many major spoilers lie ahead.

If you thought that American Horror Story: Asylum had reached its highest level of intensity when Chloe Sevigny's Shelley lost her legs in "Nor'easter," then you definitely weren't prepared for what happened last night during "I Am Anne Frank: Part 2." Sister Jude (Jessica Lange) left Briarcliff, Dr. Arthur Arden (James Cromwell) was confirmed to be a Nazi, and Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson) escaped the insane asylum only for it to be revealed that her savior, Dr. Oliver Thredson (Zachary Quinto), was actually the serial killer Bloody Face. And those are only touching on the biggest revelations.

Last week Spinoff Online caught up with Franka Potente, who plays Anne Frank, and Lizzie Brochere, who plays Grace, during separate conference calls, and the two actresses talked about the insane events that happened during "I Am Anne Frank: Part 2." By the end of the episode, Anne Frank (who’s revealed to be a woman named Charlotte Brown who has postpartum depression and took on a new identity) was lobotomized and Grace was kidnapped and operated on by aliens, leaving neither of them in a great situation.

Potente's character arc seemingly came to a close in this episode when she was returned home following her lobotomy. Her Anne Frank persona is gone, and she has been happily reunited with her family, so it remains to be seen whether she'll return.

"I'm not sure. You can never be sure,” she said about the possibility of another appearance. “I hope so. I can't say that at this point.”

Even if she doesn't return this season, there's always a chance that Murphy could bring her back as a new character in Season 3. But Potente seemed as disappointed as we were that she actually wasn't playing Anne Frank.

"It's kind of sad. When I read the reveal, I was like, 'Oh, no, aww.' Part of me kind of wished for a second after I only read the first script maybe it is Anne Frank," Potente said. "I kind of like that idea. With a lot of historical figures, we always think, what if they weren't dead? What if there's a remote island where all these people, JFK, hang out when they are gone? What would they be like now if you put them into new historic context? How would that work? It's a very intriguing thing to think about."

At least she was right about one thing: Arden is a Nazi. That revelation happened in the final moments of "I Am Anne Frank: Part 2," with Sister Jude already out of Briarcliff and seemingly no one around who can stop Arden from doing terrible things to the inmates. Potente said it will be "interesting" to see what happens to Cromwell's character from here.

"Obviously he's a little protected by the Monsignor and other people, so I have no idea where this is going to go," she said. "I think Jamie is going to be there until the end. We just got the confirmation that he is a Nazi and he's already involved in so much horrible stuff, so I have no idea. It's going to be very interesting what they do with that."

Meanwhile, Brochere discussed how excited she is to be involved in one of the meatiest plots of this season: the alien storyline. Although she was supposed to be sterilized by Briarcliff under the orders of Sister Mary Eunice (Lily Rabe), Grace was actually seemingly abducted by the same aliens who took Kit Walker (Evan Peters) and underwent an operation. She wouldn't reveal what that procedure was or what revelations will come from it, but she is excited for the way the story is picking up.

"What I like about my character is it kind of joins a storyline that I cherish a lot, which is the aliens storyline, and that is something that I was really, really looking forward to," Brochere said. "I love being close to that storyline because I [a French native] felt so much myself like an alien."

She also teased that Season 2, which is filming Episode 10, is only going to get crazier from here on out.

"This season is getting more and more twisted and going in darker and darker places,” Brochere said, “so it will be a pleasure to talk to everyone once we are allowed to actually say anything.”
