While new series writer Robert Venditti's run on Justice League may not begin until next month, DC Comics has already proved a tease of what's to come for the DC Universe's premier superteam.

Superstar artist Francis Manapul has illustrated for April's Justice League #44 and #45, with the first cover showing the team falling through the cracks of reality while the second reveals them in the clutches of a ravenous, omnipotent new enemy.

The advance solicitation information for the beginning of Venditti's run revealed that the longtime Superman antagonist the Eradicator would attempt to invade Earth with his own genetically engineered team. Whether this strange new threat is related to the Eradicator's plot has yet to be seen.

Venditti replaces Scott Snyder, who had relaunched the latest volume of the venerable team in 2018 following the crossover event Dark Nights: Metal. Snyder's run had seen the team face the omnipotent villain Perpetua, forcing the heroes to recruit unlikely allies from across the DC Multiverse while contending with the Legion of Doom. Judging by Manapul's covers, the Justice League doesn't appear to be facing lower stakes as Venditti's run is poised to begin.
