Dark Horse is releasing Fragmentation, a new graphic novel that mixes real-life history with blockbuster action, later this year.

CBR can exclusively reveal that Dark Horse Books is putting out Fragmentation from Emmy Award-winning writer Marc Guggenheim, artist Beni R. Lobel (Batman: Arkham Unhinged) and colorist Christopher Sotomayor (Captain Marvel, Death of Doctor Strange). The mind-bending graphic novel sees historical events collide with pulse-pounding intensity in a unique and exciting way. The synopsis for the graphic novel reads, "When pieces of history from some of the world's most historic events start appearing as fragments of time invade our world, all of human existence is threatened. One family discovers that their personal tragedy is at the center of everything, making them the only people who can help put an end to the Fragmentations which threaten humanity."

Guggenheim said that the graphic novel will balance a number of different tones that sees it cross into multiple genres. "With Fragmentation, we've tried to create the comic book equivalent of a Christopher Nolan feature film with a simple story of family at its core," he said. "Beni Lobe has done the work of his career bringing these amazing visuals to stunning life."

Guggenheim has worked for both Marvel and DC on a number of different projects, including X-Men: Gold, Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca, Arrow, Justice Society of America and more. He also wrote Dark Horse Comic's Last Flight Out, a six-issue miniseries set in a futuristic world where Earth is uninhabitable that recently concluded. "The idea of a story about a father trying to reconnect with his daughter during the end of the world has been burning a hole in my notebook for several years now," Guggenheim previously said of Last Flight Out. "Fortunately, the pandemic gave me the time to finally write this story and I'm indebted to Kyle Higgins for introducing me to the superlative Eduardo Ferigato and to Dark Horse for so enthusiastically embracing this project." In addition to comics, Guggenheim co-developed CW's Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and more. He also co-wrote the screenplay for 2011's Green Lantern film and wrote the screenplay for 2013's Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
