Oscar winner Geena Davis has joined "The Exorcist," the Fox drama pilot inspired by William Peter Blatty's 1971 horror novel.

The modernized take on the story is described as a psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family's case of horrifying demonic possession and confronting the face of true evil. Ben Daniels (“House of Cards”) and Alfonso Herrera (“Sense8") were cast just last week in lead roles as priests.

Davis will play Angela Rance, characterized as regal and proud, but weighed down by stress. She does everything she can to stay positive and keep her faith even though her family is struggling. She can’t help but think if perhaps her nightmares about a demon are a sign of what’s wrong.

Brianne Howey, Hannah Kasulka and Kurt Egyiawan also star in the pilot, written by Jeremy Slater and directed by Rupert Wyatt.
