"The Fast and the Furious" veteran Jordana Brewster has boarded Fox's "Lethal Weapon" pilot.

The update of the classic buddy-cop action franchise starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover centers on Martin Riggs, a former Texas cop and Navy SEAL who moves to Los Angeles for a fresh start following the loss of his wife and baby. There, he’s partnered with veteran LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans Sr.) who, having recently suffered a minor heart attack, must avoid stress.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brewster will play Dr. Maureen "Mo" Cahill, the LAPD's hostage negotiator and in-house therapist. The role of Riggs hasn't been cast.

Brewster, who reprised her role last year as Mia Toretto in "Furious 7," starred on the revival of "Dallas," and appeared on FX's "American Crime Story."

The "Lethal Weapon" pilot was written by Matt Miller (“Chuck”), who will executive produce alongside Dan Lin.
