Fox's 'Lethal Weapon' Casts Clayne Crawford as Riggs

"Rectify" alum Clayne Crawford will star opposite Damon Wayans Sr. in Fox's "Lethal Weapon" pilot. He'll play Martin Riggs, the role originated by Mel Gibson in the blockbuster film franchise.

Directed by McG from a script by Matt Miller ("Chuck"), the pilot follows Riggs, a former Texas cop and Navy SEAL who moves to Los Angeles for a fresh start following the loss of his wife and baby. There, he’s partnered with veteran LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Wayans) who, having recently suffered a minor heart attack, must avoid stress.

Jordana Brewster also stars as Dr. Maureen “Mo” Cahill, the LAPD’s hostage negotiator and in-house therapist, while Kevin Rahm (“Mad Men”) will play LAPD Captain Avery.

Crawford's other credits include "Leverage," "24" and "The Glades."
