With its "X-Files" revival still on the horizon, Fox has ordered a haunted-house drama that has certain similarities to the cult series.

Entertainment Weekly reports that "Haunted" centers on a female skeptic and a male true believer who are called upon to investigate a supposedly haunted house. They'll stick with that one task over the course of the entire first season, so don't expect any aliens or government conspiracies to crop up.

Loosely based on Bob Cramner's book "The Demon of Brownsville Road," the first season sees a military agent partner with her ex-boyfriend, now a rogue demonologist, to help a family overcome by a demonic infestation of their home.

William Brent Bell ("The Devil Inside") is set to write and direct, with Chris Morgan and Ainsley Davies executive producing.
