Fox's film adaption of David Petersen's Mouse Guard has three pretty big names set to star.

That Hashtag Show reports that geek icons Andy Serkis and Giancarlo Esposito have been cast in the animated feature film. Serkis will play Guard mouse-turned-antagonist Midnight, while Esposito will play the peg-legged, seafaring Conrad. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Serkis' involvement and also added that Game of Thrones' Thomas Brodie-Sangster will play protagonist Lieam.

The Mouse Guard film was announced in 2016 and will use motion-capture to bring its rodent characters to life. Wes Ball -- who worked with Brodie-Sangster on the Maze Runner films -- will direct. The project also reunites Serkis with War For the Planet Of the Apes director Matt Reeves, who is producing.

First self-published in 2005, Petersen's series has since achieved cult-classic status. It explores a uniquely specific Medieval world where there are no humans, only sentient animals. The Mouse Guard is charged with the noble duty of protecting civilians.
