Fox May Be Heading To Mars With The Martian Chronicles

John Davis, the producer behind Fox's science-fiction hits I, Robot and AVP: Alien vs. Predator, has optioned the film rights to Ray Bradbury's classic short-story collection The Martian Chronicles, 24 Frames reports.

Published in 1950, the 28-story collection chronicles the colonization of Mars by humans fleeing a troubled Earth that's eventually devastated by nuclear war, and the conflict between the native Martians and the new colonists.

The Martian Chronicles was previously adapted in 1980 as a three-episode television miniseries starring Rock Hudson, Darren McGavin, Bernadette Peters, Roddy McDowall, Barry Morse and Maria Schell. (I don't think you can get any more '80s than that cast.)
