Fox gave entertainment websites a nice, slow pitch across the plate by preemptively canceling the animated series Murder Police, which had been set to join the network's dwindling Animation Domination lineup at midseason.

According to TVGuide, Fox executives weren't happy with early cuts of the show, created by Family Guy executive producer David A. Goodman and Jason Ruiz, which is why the animated comedy didn't make it onto the fall slate. Now producer 20th Century Fox Television hopes to shop the series to another network.

Murder Police, which received a 13-episode order, focuses on an inept but enthusiastic cop surrounded by equally bad co-workers. Wilmer Valderrama, Jane Lynch, Chi McBride, Will Sasso, Peter Atencio and Justina Machado made up the voice cast.

With The Cleveland Show canceled and American Dad moving to TBS, that leaves Fox's Animation Domination block with Family Guy, Bob's Burgers and The Simpsons, recently renewed for a 26th season. Whether Fox will come up with more shows to fill out the ranks or devote less time to animation on Sundays remains to be seen at this point.
