The cast of Fox's The Gifted continues to expand with the addition of actor Jermaine Rivers as the Marvel Comics mutant Shatter. The news was first reported on Wednesday by IMDb.com, and then confirmed by Rivers on his Instagram page.

Introduced in 2002 in Marvel's Morlocks #1 by Geoff Johns and Shawn Martinbrough, Shatter is a member of the Postman's Chicago branch of Morlocks. When Shatter learned he was a mutant, he attempted to commit suicide, only to discover his crystalline skin was impenetrable. He gets his name from the crack in the side of his head where the bullet hit him.

Developed by Burn Notice creator Matt Nix, The Gifted follows two ordinary parents who discover their children possess extraordinary powers. Forced to go on the run from the government, they join an underground network of mutants and must fight for their survival.

Rivers' credits include Magic Mike XXL, MacGyver and The Haves and Have Nots. News of his addition to The Gifted arrives only days after it was announced Garret Dillahunt (Deadwood, Raising Hope) will play Roderick Campbell, the Marvel villain better known as Ahab.
