As noted by Exhibitor Relations Co. on Twitter, three previously untitled Fox/Marvel films scheduled for June 26, 2020; October 2, 2020; and March 5, 2021, have all been removed from Disney's slate. That account also noted Gambit, which was last dated for March 13, 2020, has too been removed from the House of Mouse's schedule.
Exactly which movies were slated for those dates is not known, but the films Fox was reported or known to have been in some stage of production in the last few years include X-Force, Multiple Man, X-23, Deadpool 3 and Doctor Doom. Of those, X-Force is almost certainly among the casualties.
Actor Channing Tatum has been signed on to the Gambit film for years now. And just this past September, producer Simon Kinberg claimed that the film was going ahead and even spoke to the film's tone. Additionally, reports have suggested that the film was targeting an early 2019 production start date.
At this time, it's expected the Fantastic Four and X-Men will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed the latter won't appear for "a very long time." Disney CEO Bob Iger has teased the possibility Deadpool might remain R-rated.
Written and directed by X-franchise veteran Simon Kinberg, Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters and Jessica Chastain. The film is scheduled to be released on June 7.
