Deadpool 2 Is Campaigning For a Best Picture Nomination (No, Seriously)

As far as Wade Wilson's mutant mercenary alter ego is concerned, it's all about giving maximum effort -- and that is exactly what parent studio 20th Century Fox is doing with Deadpool 2.

The studio has just begun an extensive "For Your Consideration" ad campaign so that the R-Rated superhero film can enter the Academy Awards race. Fox is mainly going after the crown jewel of the Oscars, the Best Picture category, but it isn't stopping there: it's also hoping to land some nominations for Best Actor, Best Visual Effects and Best Sound Mixing, among many others.

The first Deadpool movie had a very similar "For Your Consideration" ad campaign, although the movie didn't end up getting any sort of nomination at the awards ceremony. While it's clear that the superhero comedy has little hope of ever being nominated for Best Picture, it does stand a chance in the more technical categories such as Visual Effects, Sound, Editing and Makeup and Hairstyling.

Here is the full list of potential awards 20th Century Fox is pushing Deadpool 2 for:
