One of the most influential works written by prolific science fiction writer Isaac Asimov was Foundation, which created a whole series of novels spanning a millennium as humanity attempts to rebuild civilization across the stars.

Apple TV+ has released its first look for its ambitious adaptation of the novels, featuring a short introduction by showrunner and executive producer David S. Goyer, before cutting to a teaser trailer for the series showcasing its immersive sci-fi worlds.

Teasing the fall of the Galactic Empire and its worlds plunging into chaos, the teaser juxtaposes the jaw-droppingly gorgeous worlds and interplanetary intrigue as the main character Hari Seldon foresees the end of civilization.

Originally in development by Jonathan Nolan for HBO, Goyer began developing a television adaptation for Apple TV+ in 2018 after acquiring the licensing rights. Principal photography in Ireland was suspended this past March due to the outbreak of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with no date to resume production officially confirmed at this time.
