Fortnite is refunding players who purchased the in-game Gunner pet dog item due to its similarity to another pet item called Bonsey.

"We should not have released the Gunner Pet and apologize for doing so," Epic Games told IGN. "Anyone who purchased Gunner and refunds it prior to this make-good will instead receive 200 V-bucks and an additional refund token that can be put towards any eligible items that were purchased within the past 30."

In a side-by-side comparison, the similarity between Gunner and Bonsey is unmistakable. Both dogs are the same color and shape, with subtle differences. For instance, Gunner has blue eyes, while Bonsey's are brown. Bonsey sports a simple green camo bandana, but Gunner's has a print. Gunner wears a balaclava, but Bonsey does not.

Starting today, players could purchase Gunner for 1,000 V-Bucks, or $9.99 USD. Bonsey was originally released as a season six Battle Pass pet. Both pet items appear below; Gunner appears against a green background, while Bonsey is set against purple.

Fortnite is available across multiple gaming platforms, including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows, Nintendo Switch, macOS, iOS and Android devices.
