Following a season stained by controversy, Fortnite needed to breathe life into a game that many felt had become stale. Some suggested that returning the Battle Royale mode to its roots would bring players back to one of the world's most popular games. With that in mind, Epic Games rolled out Fortnite: Chapter Two, a massive update, with brand-new map, updated weapons and a new activity that, to the surprise of many, has quickly become a fan favorite.

Making its debut in Fortnite: Chapter Two is fishing. Players can find Fishing Rods across the map, which allows them to cast a line into any body of water in hopes of pulling out a weapon or healable. In addition to the regular items, new things making their debut in the lakes and rivers of the Battle Royale map include Small Frys, Flopper and Slurp Fish, all of which are aquatic creatures that provide players with varying degrees of health. With the stack size of the fish being between two and six, they've quickly become some of the most important items in the game.

Within the exciting new activity, Epic Games has included a mysterious new item that players can only find through fishing. Known as the Mythic Goldfish, this trophy-like object is one of the most dangerous items ever seen in Battle Royale, with the ability to deal out 200 damage with a single blow. What's unique about the Mythic Goldfish, though, is that a player has a one-in-a-million chance of finding it. Fortnite users, pro and novice alike, have searched high and low for this elusive item, but only a handful have been snatched up.

Fishing in Battle Royale has also spawned a new wave of content from creators that has brought back some life to the Fortnite community.  Every day another Youtuber or streamer attempts a challenge involving the activity, including things like winning with only fishing loot or surviving using only Flopper and Slurp Fish. As the season goes on, creators will only find more creative ways to incorporate fishing into their content, meaning a lot more fun is on the horizon.

Fortnite is available across multiple gaming platforms, including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows, Nintendo Switch, macOS, iOS, and Android devices.
