The Dark Knight is returning to the gaming world, in a way. Fortnite's next crossover is set to bring Batman into the insanely popular Battle Royale mode for the tail-end of its controversial 10th season.Ahead of "Batman Day" on Sept. 21, one of the world's most popular games plans to cross over with one of the biggest superheroes of all time. Epic Games has yet to announce the promotion, but thanks to some Fortnite leakers, information has become available about what the event will entail.RELATED: Fortnite's Latest Update Sees The Return Of The Floating IslandA new Rift Zone will come to the Battle Royale map, which will see Batman's iconic stomping grounds, Gotham City, replace Titled Town, as seen below.

If a new landing spot wasn't enough, Batman cosmetics are on their way. Among those that have surfaced are a Batwing-type glider and an unidentified skin. Batman has no shortage of costumes, so it's difficult to pinpoint what look could to Fortnite. Some fans have theorized that Warner Bros. could use this crossover as an opportunity to promote Joker. A cosmetic of the Joaquin Phoenix version of the character could sell like hotcakes, but the idea is just wishful thinking at this point.

Finally, what crossover would be complete with a new set of challenges? The list of tasks, which includes things like using a Batman grapple gun and defusing Joker gas canisters, will become live with the event and will offer rewards for completion. Much like the Avengers: Endgame promotion, the big prize is a glider, with this model being reminiscent of the Batplane.

The Batman crossover will arrive on the heels of one of the more lackluster promotions Fortnite has ever seen. Just a few weeks ago, the game began to tease that Pennywise the Dancing Clown was coming to Battle Royale ahead of the release of It: Chapter Two. That never came to fruition, which left fans of the franchise who dreamed of taking vengeance on the shape-shifting monster disappointed. Hopefully being able to grapple around the map like the Dark Knight will help Epic Games get back into the good graces of its fanbase.

Fortnite is available across multiple gaming platforms, including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows, Nintendo Switch, macOS, iOS, and Android devices.
