Former WWE Champion Joins "The Flash" for Season 2

The pro wrestling/comic book connections continue to run deep, with ComicBook.com confirming Thursday that Adam Copeland, better known as retired WWE performer Edge, has been cast on season two of "The Flash" as Atom-Smasher.

Unlike the Atom-Smasher of DC Comics, this take on the character will be a villain. Here's the description: "One of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season, Atom Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash. His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him."

One of the most popular WWE stars of his era, Copeland retired in 2011 due to injuries. He's since become a recurring character on Syfy series "Haven," among other acting roles. Earlier this week, as seen on Instagram, Copeland was spotted on "The Flash" set, in costume with a full mask.

"The Flash" season two is scheduled to debut Oct. 6 on The CW.
