Apple TV offered up a glimpse at the second season of Ronald D. Moore's alternate history space drama For All Mankind.

Posted on YouTube, the trailer unfolds with a voiceover derived from a real life speech given in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan, beginning with, "Let me state as plainly as I can. The greatest threat the United States faces is posed by the Soviet Union." It ends with an ominous shot of NASA astronauts armed with guns apparently designed to fire on the moon.

Debuting on November 1, 2019, For All Mankind explores what might have happened if the Soviet Union had beaten the United States in the race to put the first man on the moon. The series follows NASA as the agency tries to outdo the Soviet Union in a space race that lasts into the 1980s and recruits more women and minorities as astronauts and scientists in order to gain an edge.

"Told through the lives of NASA astronauts, engineers and their families, For All Mankind presents an aspirational world where NASA and the space program remained a priority and a focal point of our hopes and dreams," the official description of the teaser reads.

The second season was announced on October 2019, before the first season had premiered. As of yet, there has been no official announcement on when the new season will debut.

Created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi, For All Mankind stars Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Sarah Jones, Shantel VanSanten, Wrenn Schmidt and Jodi Balfour.
