Dark Horse's "Avatar: The Last Airbender" comics pick up where the TV show left off, and here's a look at how the story has progressed so far.

Starting with 2012's "The Promise," Dark Horse Comics has released multiple graphic novels telling further stories set in the "Avatar: The Last Airbender" world, all picking up where the acclaimed TV show's finale left off.

With the latest volume -- "Smoke and Shadow Part One" -- scheduled for release later this month, Dark Horse has released a timeline detailing some of the big events of their "Avatar: The Last Airbender" graphic novels thus far, and showing how the story has progressed thus far:

"Avatar: The Last Airbender - Smoke and Shadow Part One," from the creative team of writer Gene Luen Yang and artist Gurihiru, is scheduled for release on Sept. 23.
