Since his creation in Joe Simon and Jack Kirby's "Captain America Comics #1" in 1941, Captain America has become a tent pole for Marvel Comics. It's no surprise, then, that he has been central to the creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it -- but that's not the first time Steve Rogers star-spangled his way onto the screen.

YouTube user Burger Fiction has put together a compilation video titled "The Evolution of Captain America in Television & Film," which chronicles the character's portrayal in every one of his film and TV appearances from 1944's "Captain America" serial through to this May's "Captain America: Civil War."
