The musclebound, reality-bending superhero known as Flex Mentallo is set to join the cast of DC Universe's Doom Patrol at some point in the future. This announcement was made during the DC Universe panel at WonderCon 2019.

That being said, it was not revealed when exactly the Hero of the Beach would be coming to the critically-acclaimed surrealist superhero series, nor has any casting information been revealed at this time.

A parody of bodybuilder Charles Atlas and his famous "the insult that made a Man out of Mac" comic book advertisements, Flex Mentallo has the ability to manipulate reality by flexing his muscles. Created by Grant Morrison and Richard Case, the character first appeared in 1990's Doom Patrol #35.

Flex Mentallo went on to make several more appearances during Morrison's run on Doom Patrol in the early '90s and starred in his own four-issue limited series (also penned by Morrison) in 1996. More recently, Flex has been seen on the pages of Gerard Way's Doom Patrol under DC's Young Animal imprint, and even recently made a brief cameo alongside the rest of his team in Doomsday Clock #9, the latest issue of DC's follow-up to Watchmen.
