During an appearance at Missouri’s Cape Comic Con, actor John Wesley Shipp dropped a few major hints about “Flash’s” future as the CW series races towards the conclusion of its debut season. When asked if the show, which recently brought time travel elements to the forefront of its narrative, would ever include Barry Allen’s grandson Bart, Shipp stated that anything is possible on the show.
“They’re already talking about that,” said Shipp, who plays Barry Allen’s father Henry on the series. Think of the amount of story that we have burned through in eighteen episodes… They’re talking about all that stuff.”
Shipp expanded on his answer by mentioning the still-unnamed “Flash”/”Arrow” spinoff starring Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Victor Garber and Wentworth Miller among others. The actor casually referred to the spinoff as “Legends,” a title that has resonance with the DC Universe; a limited series titled “Legends” was published in 1986 and formed the backbone of first major crossover event following the reboot of the DC Universe in “Crisis On Infinite Earths.” This goes against earlier rumors that listed “Atom” as the series’ working title, and lines up with executive producer Andrew Kresiberg’s comments debunking those rumors.
CBR News has reached out to Warner Bros. Television and The CW for comment.
Shipp mentioned that the spinoff has a 13-episode order, and he also included CBS’ upcoming “Supergirl” series when running through a list of shows that will comprise the ever-expanding shared DC TV universe. Since “Supergirl” shares a producing team with the CW’s DC shows, it’s been hinted at and assumed that the series will have ties to “Flash” and “Arrow.”
