Flashpoint Beyond writer Tim Sheridan teased the DC series will give Harvey Dent's son an important role related to Batman's legacy, which could potentially mean a new Robin is on the way.

In a CBR exclusive interview, Sheridan was asked what role Dexter Dent, Harvey's son in the Flashpoint Beyond timeline, will have in the series. "There's a great panel in Flashpoint Beyond #2 where Thomas catches a glimpse of Dexter looking out the window, and the moonlight is hitting his face," Sheridan revealed. "At the same time, Dexter's shadow is hitting the face of a young Bruce Wayne in a nearby portrait. I think that is where we begin in terms of how Thomas sees Dexter. He sees a kid that, in many ways, reminds him a lot of Bruce, but he doesn't quite understand his relationship with this kid yet. He's still got a lot of things that he's dealing with, but this definitely pushes some buttons for Thomas."

He continued, "Young Dexter has his own story and agenda. We've all seen the long, great history between Batman and other lost young men. I don't want to give away too much, but I think you can see the ideas that we're playing with and how they tie into the history of Batman's legacy. Let's just leave it at that for now."

In the Flashpoint Beyond continuity, Harvey never becomes Two-Face and instead is a well-respected judge in Gotham City. In the Flashpoint: Batman Knight of Vengeance spinoff, the Joker (Martha Wayne) kidnaps Dent's two children and tricks Jim Gordon into killing Dent's daughter. Harvey makes it out of the confrontation alive; however, he becomes an orphan in Flashpoint Beyond #0 when he's murdered by an unknown killer. Thomas Wayne then takes the child in, though he tells Oswald Cobblepot his motivations for doing so are because "he was a witness" and "he might prove useful" in Flashpoint Beyond #1.

While Thomas might be relatively new to taking in defenseless children, Batman/Bruce Wayne has long done so outside of the world of Flashpoint. Dick Grayson was first introduced and appeared as Robin in 1940's Detective Comics #38. Batman has taken on a number of other Robins in the years that followed, including Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown and Damian Wayne, the latter of which is Batman and Talia al Ghul's biological son.

Flashpoint Beyond #2 comes from writers Sheridan, Geoff Johns and Jeremy Adams, artist Xermanico and colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr., with cover art by Mitch Gerads and variant cover art by Xermanico, Brad Anderson and Jason Fabok. The issue releases June 7 from DC. Flashpoint Beyond #1 is currently available for purchase.
