DC reveals who the smartest woman on the planet is in Flashpoint Beyond.

A preview for the miniseries' fifth issue by writers Geoff Johns, Tim Sheridan and Jeremy Adams with artists Xermánico and Mikel Janín shows Mr. Terrific and Time Master Bonnie Baxter having a televised conversation about the history of the DC Omniverse. The preview partially spoils the ending of the Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths event being that it is set two days afterward, and one of their topics of conversation is the return of the Justice League, who seemingly died prior to the 2022 event in Justice League #75. After Bonnie scoffs at Mr. Terrific's explanation of the Omniverse, she gives her own breakdown of the Omniverse, Hypertime and the Mandela Effect.

Mr. Terrific is regarded as one of the smartest minds in the DC Universe, which Bonnie acknowledges in the preview. After giving her lengthy explanation of the DC Omniverse, Mr. Terrific asks her, "And how do you know all this, Dr. Baxter?" Bonnie replies, "I've heard you humbly declare you're the third-smartest man on the planet, Mr. Terrific. I'm the smartest woman."

The Time Masters Are Going After Batman

Though her title as the smartest woman on the planet is self-proclaimed, her younger brother, Corky, has been warning Batman Bruce Wayne about her, Rip Hunter and rest of the Time Masters arriving to stop the Caped Crusader from what he is doing, though the Dark Knight's plans are not entirely known as of writing. Flashpoint Beyond is a mystery story several layers deep, being that there is a serial killer on the loose murdering time travelers, somehow the Flashpoint universe has returned, Flashpoint Batman/Thomas Wayne has been brought back to life following Justice League Incarnate and so on. Whatever Bruce's true plans regarding his father are though, they have been having a negative effect on Hypertime.

What Is Wrong With Hypertime in Flashpoint Beyond?

Prior to Flashpoint Beyond #5, Bonnie was last seen in the title traveling through Hypertime alongside fellow Time Master Dr. Jeff Smith in Flashpoint Beyond #3. The duo's journey was not smooth sailing though, being that the death of the Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne in the Flashpoint timeline caused Hypertime to react violently. Dr. Smith cites Thomas Wayne being alive as a paradox to be the reason why there is trouble within Hypertime.

Flashpoint Beyond #5 is written by Johns, Sheridan and Adams with interior art by Xermánico and Janín, colors by Jordie Bellaire and Romulo Fajardo Jr., letters by Rob Leigh and main cover artwork by Mitch Gerads. Variant cover artwork is contributed to by Xermánico, Scott Kolins, Howard Porter and Tomeu Morey. The issue goes on sale Sep. 6 from DC Comics.
