The upcoming fifth season of The Flash will prominently feature the character Nora West-Allen, speedster and the future daughter of Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen. Adopting the mantle of XS, Nora wears a costume that bears a resemblance to that worn by DC character Jenni Ognats (the original XS) during her time as a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes.
Several photos released thus far have given fans a look at Nora's costume. However, a new poster revealed via The Flash's official social media pages provides a look at what XS' suit looks like in action as she runs alongside her father (who is also sporting some new threads), leaving purple streaks of electricity in her wake as she taps into the Speed Force. Additionally, the poster is accompanied by a caption that reads, "Lightning strikes twice."
Series showrunner Todd Helbing has described the theme of The Flash Season 5 as being "legacy," adding, "It's [about what's really important to people, [in terms of] what they leave behind. Is it more important for Barry to be a good father, or The Flash?" With this in mind, it comes as no surprise that Nora will play such a key role when the show returns to television in October.
Returning Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanaugh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet, Hartley Sawyer and Jessica Parker Kennedy.
