The upcoming fifth season of The Flash will prominently feature the character Nora West-Allen, speedster and the future daughter of Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen. Adopting the mantle of XS, Nora wears a costume that bears a resemblance to that worn by DC character Jenni Ognats (the original XS) during her time as a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes.RELATED: Who Is XS? Series showrunner Todd Helbing has described the theme of The Flash Season 5 as being "legacy," adding, "It's [about what's really important to people, [in terms of] what they leave behind. Is it more important for Barry to be a good father, or The Flash?" With this in mind, it comes as no surprise that Nora will play such a key role when the show returns to television in October.

Returning Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanaugh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet, Hartley Sawyer and Jessica Parker Kennedy.
