Longtime DC Studios collaborator Christina Hodson will reportedly write the script for the upcoming Batman reboot film, The Brave and the Bold.According to a tweet from trusted scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Hodson will be the screenwriter for The Brave and the Bold, which was one of the five films announced by DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran back in January 2023 as part of the first chapter in the forthcoming DC Universe. The scooper also backed up a report stating that The Flash director Andy Muschietti would helm the upcoming Caped Crusader film. Muschietti has plenty of experience directing Dark Knights as both the Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck versions of the iconic DC crimefighter appear in The Flash.RELATED: Superman: Legacy Reportedly Eyeing Supergirl, Bold and the Beautiful Star

Hodson Is Well-Versed in the DCU

Hodson has been playing in the DCU since 2016 when the British screenwriter signed on to write the screenplay for Birds of Prey. The Suicide Squad spinoff film, starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, received mostly positive reviews from critics upon its release in 2020. Birds of Prey led to more DC work for Hodson, including the upcoming The Flash and the shelved streaming-exclusive movie Batgirl. She was also announced in January 2023 as part of the writers' room assembled by Gunn and Safran to map out the next 10 years of DCU content. Outside the DCU, Hodson is best known for writing the 2018 Transformers prequel Bumblebee. She is also attached to co-write Fast & Furious 11 with Oren Uziel.

While reports of Muschietti helming The Brave and the Bold only recently emerged, the director had previously suggested that he might be in the running for the coveted gig. In a May 2023 interview, Muschietti was asked what his take on the DCU's Batman would be after already working with Keaton and Affleck's respective Caped Crusaders on The Flash. The director cryptically responded, "I don't think I can talk to that...yet," which led many fans to speculate that he was circling the production. At this time, Warner Bros. and DC Studios have not officially confirmed Hodson and Muschietti as The Brave and the Bold's screenwriter and director, respectively.

The Flash is expected to be the last time DC fans see Keaton and Affleck's respective Batmen in live-action, with the Gotham City vigilante set to be rebooted for Gunn's forthcoming DCU. The Brave and the Bold will serve as the debut for this next iteration of the Caped Crusader, which will pull inspiration from writer Grant Morrison and artist Andy Kubert's run on DC Comics' Batman, specifically their 2006 comic book story arc, "Batman and Son." In that storyline, Bruce Wayne learns that he has fathered a son, Damian, with Talia al Ghul, the daughter of his nemesis, Ra's al Ghul.

The Brave and the Bold does not yet have a release date. The Flash opens in theaters on June 16.
