SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for “Enter Flashtime,” the latest episode of The Flash.

Earth-3 is about to get a new speedster hero. In "Enter Flashtime," the latest episode of The Flash, Jay Garrick revealed that he is training a young female speedster to take his place.

During the events of "Enter Flashtime," Jay was unable to keep up with the younger speedsters; he simply lacked the stamina to maintain such a high speed. Halfway through the episode, he fell out of Flashtime, leaving Barry and Jesse to pick up the slack to stop a nuclear bomb before it went off.

At the end of the episode, Jay revealed that the incident offered him some perspective. This solidified his decision to retire as his world's Flash. However, at the same time, he revealed that he is training a young, female speedster to take his place. He did not mention her name before returning to Earth-3.

To date, The Flash has introduced only two female speedsters: Jesse Quick, who appeared in the episode, and Trajectory, who died in her debut episode. Two possible candidates for Jay's speedster trainee are Liberty Belle, who has long been a Flash family staple, and Meena Dhawan, who was introduced in DC Rebirth.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, and Tom Cavanagh as Harry Wells, with guest appearances from Hartley Sawyer as the Elongated Man.
