Although the announcement in November that pro wrestler Bill Goldberg will guest star on two episodes of The Flash received significant attention, which DC Comics character he's playing may have escaped notice. He'll debut in tonight's episode as Barry Allen's fellow inmate at Iron Heights ... Big Sir.

Not exactly a classic Flash villain, despite being dubbed the "Most Dangerous Man Alive," Big Sir was born with a glandular problem that caused him to grow to super-sized proportions, but left him mentally handicapped. Abducted from a mental hospital by the Rogues, he was given a high-tech suit of armor by the Monitor (of Crisis on Infinite Earths fame).

Big Sir

Although Big Sir played a role in the original "Trial of The Flash" storyline, he may be remembered by fans of DC's Justice League International as a member of Justice League Antarctica, alongside his Injustice League colleagues. Big Sir later joined the Suicide Squad, which (unsurprisingly) didn't end well for him.

It seems unlikely that The CW's The Flash will use Big Sir's backstory, or his real name -- Dufus P. Ratchett. However, we can expect for him to play a role in two episodes, beginning tonight with "The Elongated Knight Rises":

When a familiar villain returns to terrorize Central City, Ralph (guest star Hartley Sawyer) must rise up to defend the innocent while Barry (Grant Gustin) is detained by his trial. Meanwhile, Barry searches for the strength to keep his optimism alive in the face of his new circumstances.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, with Hartley Sawyer as the Elongated Man.
