The promo for next week's episode of The Flash, "Elongated Journey Into Night," features the live-action debut of Ralph Dibny (played by Hartley Sawyer), better known to DC Comics fans as Elongated Man. Ralph's introduction the CW drama has been rumored since Season 1, but his role on The Flash seems to be much different than in the comics.

In the Season 1 episode "Power Outage," The Flash listed a number of people thought dead following the particle accelerator explosion, including the civilian names of Elongated Man, Damage and Fire. Also mentioned are Al Rothstein and Ronnie Raymond, two characters who were found alive, so Ralph's seemingly sudden return to life isn't that far-fetched. While in the comics Barry Allen and Ralph were the best of friends, the producers of The Flash have hinted at a more antagonistic relationship and judging by the trailer, it seems that Barry Allen has a history with Ralph, calling him a "dirty cop." The episode also sees the debut of Danny Trejo as Gypsy's father, Breacher, who is seen briefly in the promo.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p..m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow and Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West.
