It looks like Sue Dearbon will be sticking around just a little bit longer.
In "Success Is Assured," The Flash Season 6 finale, Eva McCulloch emerged from the Mirrorverse. Her first order of business was to murder Joseph Carver, her husband and a leader of Black Hole. To really enjoy her new lease of life, though, she needed to pin that murder on someone else -- someone else, who just so happened to be Sue.
Of course, that wasn't a far cry from what Sue wanted to do, anyway. To spare her parents from Carver's influence, she took her parents' place and became Black Hole agent herself. However, she had an underlying motivation to do so. To truly free her family from Black Hole, she planned to kill Carver herself.
"You joined Black Hole to get close to Carver, because you're going to kill him. That's why you're here, isn't it?" Ralph realized when he ran into her at McCulloch Tech before the big meta showdown.
"Carver is never going to let my parents go," Sue replied. "It's the only way it ends."
"You gotta listen to me," Ralph insisted. "There is always another way. Do you understand what happens if you kill Carver? Every time you look in the mirror, you won't recognize the person looking back. You'll lose yourself."
"Why do you care?" Sue demanded, only for Ralph to shoot back, "Because I believe in you! And I know there's still good in you. I can see it."
Ultimately, Sue never got the chance to try and kill Carver. Using her powers, Eva beat her to the punch, despite Flash's best efforts to stop her. He died with a shard of mirror piercing his heart.
Following Carver's death, Eva immediately returned to public life with a press conference. "Over the past six years, I have been held hostage by an international crime syndicate, forced to watch as they stole my technology and used it to create deadly weapons," she told reporters.
When asked how she escaped, she continued, "My husband, Joseph. He worked tirelessly to try to find me and he succeeded, only to be murdered moments after we were reunited. Words cannot express my sorrow, but know that I am working with the CCPD to try to find my husband's murderer. And as for McCulloch Technologies, I will be resuming my position as CEO, effective immediately. It's what Joseph would have wanted."
With Carver dead, albeit at the hands of another, Sue believed herself to be finally free. Ecstatic, she told Ralph she was ready to finally reunite with her family and live in peace. "Carver is dead, which means my parents are finally free, and so am I," she announced. With a smile, she added, "I'm going home."
Unfortunately, he had some bad news for her. "Sue, I'm not sure you can," he said softly. "Eva framed you for Carver's murder." With that, he showed her a newspaper clipping with a photo of her and byline that read, "Dearbon Heiress Wanted for Murder." Since Eva was always watching her husband using her mirror powers, it is likely she knew Sue was onto him and is now using this knowledge to frame her.
As such, The Flash wrapped up Sue's storyline while launching an entirely new one, which indicates the show isn't done with her quite yet. What's more, the show has given Sue her own personal villain in Mirror Mistress; if she was capable enough to hunt Carver down on her own, it's likely she won't take Mirror Mistress' accusation lying down. This may also force Sue to work with Ralph, which could potentially lead to a romance between the two, as in the comics.
