The CW's The Flash almost featured the comic book character's iconic golden boots. However, according to Arrowverse costume designer Andy Poon, the gold boots looked "too cartoony" to bring to life, so the show ultimately passed on the design.

"I’ve done concept of the gold boot, looks too cartoony," Poon explained in answer to a commenter's question. "Earth-2 Flash was fairly updated from comic and it doesn’t have yellow boots. Also Earth-2 characters are a bit more comic booky in tone."

The response popped up on one of Poon's Instagram posts, where he celebrated the renewal of all four Arrowverse shows. "All DCTV shows has been renewed! New seasons new suits, bring it!" he wrote. It is unclear who he was referring to when he said "new suits," but the shows tend to update characters' costumes and introduce a handful of new characters each season.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, and Tom Cavanagh as Harry Wells, with guest appearances from Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West and Hartley Sawyer as the Elongated Man.
