SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Liberation," the latest episode of The Flash.

The Flash's new Mirror Master is free at last!

In "Liberation," the latest episode, Eva McCulloch finally escaped the Mirrorverse. Thanks to a favor from Bloodwork, she was able to create a protective barrier that enabled her to pass through the mirror unharmed.

This week, Eva's plan entered its endgame. After she had her doppelgangers set up mirrors all along Barry and Iris' loft, she sent them to the high security prison where Dr. Ramsey Rosso, aka Bloodwork, is being held. There, the mirror versions of Iris, Kamilla and Captain Singh offered him his freedom in exchange for a drop of his blood.

Rosso demanded to know why he should believe the Flash's wife would uphold her end of the bargain. "Because I am not Iris West-Allen. I am a reflection of her," Mirror Iris explained. "We're all reflections. Faster, stronger than our human counterparts whose faces we share, and our only will is to serve our Mother."

The fact that the real Iris would never offer to release him was enough to convince Rosso, so he accepted their proposal. "Release me and you shall indeed have my life blood," he announced. In order to free him, Mirror Kamilla sacrificed herself to disrupt the barrier of his cell, much to his disgust.

As soon as he was freed, Rosso's appearance changed. The black, gooey veins appeared across his face; his fingers became elongated and tipped with black, tainted blood. He seized both Mirror Iris and Singh by the throats, then flung Singh back, knocking him out.

This offered Rosso a chance to examine Mirror Iris more closely. "You're almost human," he mused. "Maybe something more." Sensing she was different from the other two, he demanded to know what she really wanted, and she finally admitted that was "to be alive." At this, Rosso released her, saying, "And you are worthy of it."

With that, Rosso returned to his cell, but he left Mirror Iris a little gift: some of his blood. Mirror Iris asked why he decided to stay in prison. "There are walls beyond these walls," he replied cryptically. "I was never going to just walk out of here, but there's more than one way for me to be free. Let's just call this the long game."

When Mirror Iris returned to the loft, Eva explained why she needed Rosso's blood. "You'll apply Ramsey's blood on your side of the mirror," Eva instructed her. "Once it is fully absorbed, I will activate the R-CEM on my side. Together, they will reconfigure the molecular stability of the dimensional barrier that burns organic matter, creating a safe passageway between the two worlds."

Just before she could apply the blood, Barry was freed from the Pipeline by Cecile and sped back to the loft. Here, Mirror Iris revealed her true nature. First, she tossed the blood on the mirror; then, she transformed, with her arms becoming long, crystalline spikes. They fought one another as the real Iris looked on from the Mirrorverse.

Ultimately, Mirror Iris overcame Barry by using her mirror-jumping abilities to stab him multiple times. Because of his fading speed, he was unable to avoid her, and she left him with some grievous wounds. However, the real Iris spent this time working on Eva, insisting that the Mirror Master-to-be was still in love with her husband. This caused Eva -- and, in turn, Mirror Iris -- to falter.

Finally, Barry managed to talk her down. In doing so, he made Eva realize that Mirror Iris was developing a will of her own. As a result, Eva destroyed Mirror Iris, just as she realized she finally felt alive.

Furious, Eva activated her R-CEM device and stepped out of the Mirrorverse and into Barry's loft. "Look what you made me do," she hissed. As Barry geared up to speed towards her, she shot a mirror shard at him, causing him to collapse. "No! I'm sorry!" she cried. "This didn't have to be like this, Flash. You don't know what it's like in there. I had to get out."

When Barry asked about Iris, Eva revealed Iris, Kamilla and Singh are alive and well in the Mirrorverse. However, she is willing to use them as hostages to keep the Flash out of her way. "I have unfinished business to attend to, and a whole world to liberate," she declared. She returned to the Mirrorverse, leaving Barry gasping on the floor. Fortunately, what's left of his speed healing took care of his wounds, but the altercation sapped him of more of his strength and left him no closer to Iris than when he started.

As such, "Liberation" has steered Team Flash in the right direction. Now, Barry is aware of his true enemy: Mirror Master. At the time of writing, only one of her goals is clear: revenge against her husband, Joseph Carver. However, when it comes to her plan to save humanity, her goals are less clear, which means she may have something even more catastrophic in the works. Additionally, it seems Bloodwork has a few tricks up his sleeve as well, so he may become a threat once again as the season hurtles towards it conclusion.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer.
