WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for "Legacy," the Season 5 finale of The Flash.

In the Season 5 finale of The Flash, Joe West and Cisco Ramon underwent major changes: Joe was promoted from detective to captain in the Central City Police Department, while, more importantly, Cisco chose to take the metahuman cure and lose his superpowers.

Following their fight with Reverse-Flash, Cisco arrived at the decision to retire Vibe. "I don't want the extraordinary thing about my life to be my powers," he told Caitlin. "All these years I thought that Vibe was the person I was supposed to be. I think it's time Cisco finally got his turn... I want to take the cure... There's no going back."

"Killer Frost and I are really going to miss Vibe," she said.

"Me too," he replied. Without further ado, Caitlin administered the cure, effectively removing his powers. Asked how he felt, he smiled through tears. "Scared, but I'm hopeful," he admitted.

Meanwhile, at Central City Police Department, Captain David Singh called Joe, Barry and Cecile to his office. "I just want to thank you for being at the forefront with Cicada," he said. "You went way beyond just doing your job, and I know you did it because of how much you care for the people of this city, which is how I know I can leave it in your capable hands."

As the trio expressed their shock, Singh continued, "They mayor has offered me the job as the new Chief of Police. Of course, that leaves me responsible for finding my own replacement and I would like that to be you, Joe." After a moment's hesitation, Joe accepted, while Cecile and Barry congratulated him.

With a pointed look at Barry, Singh added, "And don't worry, if things get dicey, as they tend to around here, you'll have plenty of help. Isn't that right, Flash?" Barry stuttered in response, unable to form words, but Singh cut him off. "Oh, come on, Barry. I'm a detective too," he said with a laugh.

As The Flash moves into Season 6, the team will look a lot different. Due to his new role, Joe will likely spend more time at CCPD, which could mean he will appear less at STAR Labs. Now without his powers, Cisco won't be able to contribute to the team as Vibe, so he will probably redouble his efforts on the science side. With Singh knowing Barry is the Flash, the Scarlet Speedster may become more involved with Central City's politics.

Returning this fall on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanaugh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet, Hartley Sawyer and Jessica Parker Kennedy.
