"Flash" Producer Promises New Role For Iris West In Season 2

If you listen to some fans, you'd get the impression that Iris West was one oof the few weak links in the first season of The CW's "The Flash." But now, actress Candice Patton's character will be stepping into a new role as Season 2 speeds toward us.

EW has a notice from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg stating that the character will fill the role vacated by the villainous turncoat Harrison Wells as leader of Team Flash.

"Iris slides into [the role] very naturally," Kreisberg said. "She's a born leader. One of the best things in the premiere is Barry decides that he wants to work alone because he doesn't want to risk anyone else's lives, and Iris is really the one who gets the band back together again. She's the only one who can stand up to Barry."

The new season of "The Flash" arrives on October 6.
