New Flash pics signal the return of Jesse Quick and the debut of supervillain Magenta in next week's episode.
There sure are a lot of alternate worlds to keep track of on "The Flash" these days! Season one played around with time travel, season two added the idea of alternate earths and doppelgangers, and season three has made altering the fabric of the spacetime continuum the center of the whole show. Next week sees the return of the Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) of Earth-2, and his daughter Jesse (guest star Violett Beane).
Last season Harrison (or Harry, as Cisco is fond of calling him) used the nickname "Jesse Quick" to refer to his daughter, in reference to her quick wits. In the comics, Jesse Quick is the daughter of Johnny Quick, another speedster. Previews of next week's episode show that Jesse will indeed be getting the powers of her comic book inspiration and that, in spite of the altered timeline shenanigans, she will still be the daughter of the Harry Wells of Earth-2.
Photos (first seen on ComicBookMovie.com) also show the first TV appearance of Flash villain Magenta, played here by Joey King ("Fargo"). In the comics, Magenta was the ex-girlfriend of Wally West, driven mad by her superpowers. Photos show Magenta interacting with police scientist Julian Albert (Tom Felton) in the Central City police station. Perhaps she is connected to Wally's past as an illegal street racer?
We'll find out in the next episode of "The Flash", premiering Tuesday at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, starring Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Carlos Valdes, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Keiynan Lonsdale and more.
