During the massive DC FanDome virtual event, The Flash director Andy Muschietti debuted two pieces of concept art for the long-anticipated Warner Bros. film. The first depicted Barry Allen's new superhero costume, which is much less bulky and far more streamlined than the one he wore in 2017's Justice League. The second provided another look at Ezra Miller's The Flash in costume, but the superhero isn't alone: He's joined by what certainly appears to be Michael Keaton's Batman.

It was first reported in June that Keaton, who played Bruce Wayne in Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns, was in talks to reprise the role in The Flash.

The art depicts Batman and The Flash taking a stand against unknown enemies in what appears to be a subterranean, high-tech facility. The duo's whereabouts are sure to be subject of theories -- could it be the Batcave? -- but the biggest reveal is the Batman costume.

It's unmistakably Keaton's Dark Knight, because the costume resembles the one he donned for Tim Burton films. Keaton's jawline is instantly recognizable, and the crime-fighter's squared cowl appears lifted straight from 1989. What's more, the Bat-symbol on his chest is the same one used in the Burton films.

But make no mistake, this new costume isn't simply a retread; it's received a modern update. Upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that the chest armor and gauntlets are different. Given that it's been more than 30 years since this Batman has been active, it would make sense for him to upgrade his costume.

Michael Keaton as Batman

Of course, because this is just concept art, it's possible the character's final costume will be different in the film. Previous superhero movies have shown multiple differences between what was revealed in concept art and what ultimately appeared in the final product, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the so-called DC Extended Universe.

However, this still gives us an idea of what we can expect from Keaton's return as Batman. Chances are, he will still be recognizable as the fan-favorite Caped Crusader fans met in 1989. But, in true Batman fashion, he'll also be bringing some upgrades with him.

Directed by Andy Muschietti with a script by Christina Hodson, The Flash stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen. It is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 3, 2022.
