Merchandise from DC Studios' upcoming The Flash has provided new details on its title character, calling Ezra Miller's multiple versions of the Scarlet Speedster "Two Idiot Kids."The new descriptions come from a t-shirt sold at CCXP to promote the upcoming superhero film, a photo of which was tweeted out by the account DCU Argentina. The shirt features the tagline "Saving the Future and the Past :: Multiverse." It also contains new descriptions for Michael Keaton's Batman ("A retired vigilante") and Sasha Calle's Supergirl ("a half-charged solar-powered alien").RELATED: The Flash Movie Art References a Major Speed Force Power

Though little is known about the plot of The Flash, the film will borrow from Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert's Flashpoint storyline from 2011. In that story, Barry Allen travels back in time to stop the Reverse-Flash from killing his mother, Nora, which causes several seismic changes to the DC timeline. Thomas Wayne becomes Batman (and Martha Wayne the Joker) after Bruce is murdered in Crime Alley instead of his parents, Aquaman is at war with Wonder Woman, and Superman is a prisoner in an underground bunker whose existence was kept secret from the rest of the world by the US government.

How Closely Will The Flash Follow Flashpoint?

Though The Flash will not be a direct adaptation of Johns and Kubert's work, these new character details suggest Supergirl may play a similar role in the film as Superman does in the Flashpoint storyline. Her description as "a half-charged solar-powered alien" suggests she may be weakened from being held prisoner and kept out of the sun as Flashpoint's was Superman by the US government. Unlike the comic, however, Michael Keaton is expected to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne rather than play the Thomas Wayne version of the Dark Knight. The film's multiple versions of Barry Allen and the absence of Cyborg, who plays a major role in Flashpoint, also diverges from the comic. It is also unknown whether Reverse-Flash, Wonder Woman and Aquaman will appear in the film and, if so, in what capacity.

In addition to the new merchandise, The Flash's official Twitter account recently updated its logo. Advertising for the film has been relatively subdued otherwise in the wake of several legal issues surrounding lead actor Ezra Miller. In spite of this, The Flash 2 has already been written, though it is unclear at this time whether Miller will return.

Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash also stars Ron Livingston as Henry Allen (taking over from Billy Crudup), Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul, and Ben Affleck as another version of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Temuera Morrison is also expected to reprise his role as Thomas Curry, father of Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry/Aquaman. Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Rudy Mancuso and Luke Brandon Field are also attached in undisclosed roles.

The Flash opens in theaters on June 23, 2023.
