With Michael Keaton in negotiations to don the Batman costume once again for The Flash, there was some speculation as to whether he'd be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne or if he'd be playing the Flashpoint incarnation of the Dark Knight, Thomas Wayne. However, it's now been confirmed that it's the former.

According to THR, Keaton's Batman in The Flash will be Bruce Wayne rather than his father Thomas. Moreover, Keaton will appear in the full Batman costume, though it's still unclear if there will be any sort of shared continuity with his version of the character from the Tim Burton films.

News of Keaton's potential involvement in The Flash came hot on the heels of a report that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would reprise his role as Thomas Wayne from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, it was believed he'd instead play the aforementioned Flashpoint version, who takes up the mantle of Batman in an alternate timeline where Bruce is killed in Crime Alley.

As it stands, Keaton's deal is reported to include multiple DC Extended Universe films, with the vet serving as a Nick Fury-like mentor in projects such as the long-gestating Batgirl.

Directed by Andy Muschietti with a script by Christina Hodson, The Flash stars Ezra Miller. The film arrives in theaters June 3, 2022.
