Future State has brought the next generation of superheroes to the DC Universe across a variety of alternate timelines, including a new Justice League boasting its own Flash.

First appearing in a short story in DC's Very Merry Multiverse #1 by Ivan Cohen and Elanora Carlini, Jess Chambers is from a world in the DC Multiverse. The nonbinary speedster superhero joined the Future State Justice League, with writer Joshua Williamson confirming the character will continue to play a major role in the upcoming Infinite Frontier era starting this March, with hints in the character's direction provided in Future State.

"There are a lot of teases of things that are coming within their story. I have plans for them that I want to do that I can't get too deep into until after Infinite Frontier #0 has come out. [Laughs] I would say, read Infinite Frontier and then you'll get a glimpse at some of the things other characters will be involved in in Infinite Frontier that will have major impact," Williamson told CBR. "With Jess, I really enjoyed writing that particular roster of Justice League characters that were in Future State. They have a place in the future of DC and, as we go through, I think you're going to see some of those things start to play out from Future State."

Future State: Justice League #1, by Williamson and Robson Rocha, provided a brief background for Jess. The character was revealed to have helped the main DCU's heroes stop a multiversal conspiracy before deciding to stay on their Earth and help with the subsequent clean-up. Jess was strongly alluded to have formed an illicit romantic relationship with Justice League teammate Aquawoman, keeping their romance a secret due to

"When it comes to Jess, there's definitely a plan moving forward after Future State for them, there's things I want to do with them," Williamson added.

Written and illustrated by a whole host of superstar comic book creators, Infinite Frontier #0 goes on sale March 2 from DC.
