Last week’s episode of The Flash saw Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) depart Team Flash so he could find himself and his place in the world. It was a choice that left some fans upset, but co-showrunner Andrew Kreisberg promises it’s not a permanent departure.

Speaking with TVLine, Kreisberg promised that Wally will be speeding back to the Central City when Episode 7 airs on Nov. 21. (Funnily enough, that’s a week before the big “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover.) As it turns out, the reason for his departure was more for logistics purposes than anything else. “A lot of times, Barry had to get knocked out so Wally could save the day, or Wally had to get knocked out so Barry could save the day...it’s difficult having two speedsters on the show, creatively and financially.”

When Wally does return, Kreisberg promises that “more exciting” stuff will be revealed for him in the coming episodes. In the meantime, his place on the Team will be filled (well, sort of) by Ralph Dibney, aka Elongated Man (played by Hartley Sawyer), who arrives in tonight’s episode.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow and Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West.
