Ralph Dibny is here to stay! The Flash just upped Elongated Man actor Hartley Sawyer to a Season 5 series regular.

Sawyer debuted in Season 4 as Ralph Dibny, a disgraced cop turned private investigator. Through the machinations of Clifford DeVoe, aka The Thinker, Dibny and a bus full of passengers were present when Barry Allen was freed from his Speed Force imprisonment in season premiere. The wormhole sent a wave of dark matter over the bus, turning all of its passengers into metahumans. As a result, Dibny developed the power to stretch and contort his body, earning the nickname Elongated Man.

Though reluctant at first, Dibny joined Team Flash and even learned to be a hero. During his time with the team, he discovered his ability to shapeshift and was eventually a victim of The Thinker, who used one of his devices to take over Dibny's body. With a little help from Barry, Dibny ultimately overpowered the Thinker and ousted him from his mind. Returned to his proper state, he helped rally Team Flash to defeat the Thinker once and for all.

Sawyer isn't the only recurring Season 4 character to get bumped to series regular. Danielle Nicolet, who plays Central City District Attorney Cecile Horton, will also be a series regular in Season 5.

Airing Tuesday nights on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Hartley Sawyer, Danielle Nicolet, Tom Cavanaugh and Jesse L. Martin.
