WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Grodd Friended Me," the latest episode of The Flash.

The Flash's Eva McCullouch isn't exactly what she seems.

"Grodd Friended Me," the latest episode, offered a glimpse into Eva's true intentions. As the episode wound down, she revealed she has been working with Iris' mirrorverse doppelganger all along.

Throughout the episode, Eva played shrinking violet, as she has since Iris found herself trapped in the mirrorverse alongside her. Eventually, Iris pushed Eva to use the mirror device she had been working on the night the particle accelerator exploded. Eva did so, but only to show Iris the devastating results. When she used the device, she was able to push her hands back out into the real world. However, that gave her horrific burns, thus "proving" to Iris that it wasn't the solution they were looking for.

"Eva, I'm so sorry," Iris said, wrapping Eva's hands in bandages. "Why didn't you tell me the machine could hurt you?"

"I wanted to prove I wasn't lying," Eva explained. "Words are worthless. Evidence is irrefutable. My colleagues ridiculed my reflective theory. Even though my research was bleeding edge, no scientific journal would publish it, because I hadn't shown it to be true. I just couldn't have you doubt me like that. I just needed you to believe me."

Iris reassured Eva that she believed her. Eva asked for more bandages, which sent Iris out of the room. Immediately, Eva dropped the act. She stopped crying; her expression became stern. She approached the mirror and waved her hand over it, revealing Iris' doppelganger on the other side.

"What did you do to us?" Iris' doppelganger demanded. She rolled back her sleeves, revealing burns that mirrored Eva's own.

"I bought us time," Eva replied. "There's no need for you to suffer." With that, she waved her hand over Iris' doppelganger, causing the burns to disappear. She nodded at her accomplice and walked away from the mirror, then the episode cut to a title card.

This proves Iris' doppelganger has been working on Eva's orders since she emerged from the mirror. However, it is unclear what Eva's endgame is. So far, Iris has acquired the mirror gun, which was originally developed by McCullouch Tech but later stolen by Team Flash to stop Cicada in Season 5. She also just stole information about Eva's husband Joseph Carver and Black Hole from an ongoing CCPD investigation.

Considering some of Eva's earlier remarks, it seems like she has some bridges to burn. For one, she still holds a grudge against colleagues who scoffed at her theory. She also mentioned that she watched her husband move on from her "death," which means she may have an ax to grind with him as well. Her plan will unfold over the next several episodes of The Flash Season 6's second storyarc.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/CT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer.
