SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for “We Are the Flash,” the Season 4 finale of The Flash.

The Flash's Season 4 finale featured two surprise guest appearances from Wally West, aka Kid Flash, and Ralph "Elongated Man" Dibny. In "We Are the Flash," Ralph was able to take back control of his body and break free of the Thinker's hold, while Wally stopped by to meet his new baby sister Jenna Marie.

With a little help from Cecile, Barry entered the Thinker's mind so that he might find the good left in him. However, he got more than he bargained for and discovered Ralph Dibny instead. Though DeVoe was living in his body, Ralph's mind had managed to survive. Nevertheless, he was stuck in DeVoe's mind, unable to exert any control over his own body.

Working together, Ralph and Barry took on the Thinker, who channeled The Matrix and used hundreds of body doubles to try to stop the two heroes. Despite the odds, they overcame him and passed through the center of his mind. This returned Barry's consciousness to his body, while allowing Ralph to take back control. He was able to force the Thinker out, thus destroying the villain's mental hold.

"From the beginning of the season, we wanted DeVoe to hop into other people and then to finally get to Ralph, and really play it like he was dead," executive producer Todd Helbing explained to Entertainment Weekly. "That was what we walked partly through at the beginning. So it was always the plan to kill him and then bring him back to join the team at the end, and then to be part of the next season."

Wally, on the other hand, turned up after all the fighting was done. He came home just in time to celebrate the birth of Joe and Cecil's daughter. When Joe and Cecile arrived home with the baby, Barry announced that they should make a toast. At that, Wally zipped out of the kitchen with a tray full of champagne flutes to welcome his baby sister to the world.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, and Tom Cavanagh as Harry Wells, with guest appearances from Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West and Hartley Sawyer as the Elongated Man.
