Things are going from bad to worse for the heroes of Star City. The Flash's Barry Allen is on trial for the murder of Clifford DeVoe, and metahumans are still wreaking havoc in Central City. However, "The Elongated Knight Rises" will see Ralph filling in for the Flash in the meantime, possibly even adopting a costume that looks like his comic book counterpart's.
The episode synopsis reads as follows:
“The Elongated Knight Rises” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV)
THE RISE OF THE HERO — When a familiar villain returns to terrorize Central City, Ralph (guest star Hartley Sawyer) must rise up to defend the innocent while Barry (Grant Gustin) is detained by his trial. Meanwhile, Barry searches for the strength to keep his optimism alive in the face of his new circumstances. Alexandra La Roche directed the episode written by Sterling Gates & Thomas Pound (#411). Original airdate 1/23/2018.
In the comics, the Elongated Man became good friends with the Flash, designing a costume for himself and becoming a famous superhero in his own right, even gaining wealth in the process. Ralph has already been seen sporting a prototype outfit in the show, so perhaps "The Elongated Knight Rises" will finally see him acquire a new set of threads courtesy of Cisco.
"The Elongated Knight Rises" will air on Jan 23. Returning on Tuesday, Jan 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, with guest appearances from Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West and Hartley Sawyer as the Elongated Man.
