In a promo for tonight’s episode of The Flash, “Honey I Shrunk Team Flash,” Barry’s fellow inmate Big Sir (Bill Golberg) revealed he was framed, and the real perpetrator is still at large. Now, in an exclusive clip from tonight's new episode, CBR has the first look at Central City's newest metahuman villain in action, and it turns out he's got a comic book history with another DC Comics hero: The Atom.
The clip features guest star Derek Mars as Sylbert Rundine, a massive man with the ability to shrink anything and -- as Cisco and Ralph quickly learn -- anyone down to a smaller size.
In the comics, Rundine is a villain who goes by the codename Dwarfstar. Co-created by Gail Simone and John Byrne, the character's biggest claim to fame came in 2006's Titans: Villains for Hire one-shot where he hired Deathstroke and his team to murder Ryan Choi, aka the Atom, a goal. In the comics, his powers were similar to the diminutive hero's, and were achieved through similar mechanical means, via a version of the Atom's Bio-Belt.
It's not clear from the Flash footage whether he's a true metahuman or if he's utilizing a mechanical means like the aforementioned Bio-Belt. And while he doesn't go by his supervillain identity in the clip above, it's a safe bet Cisco will appropriately name him by the time the episode is over.
“Honey, I Shrunk Team Flash” premieres Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 8 p.m. on The CW. The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, with Hartley Sawyer as the Elongated Man
