The following contains spoilers for The Flash #793, on sale now from DC.

Jay Garrick and Wally West both appear to be dead by the end of DC's The Flash #793.

The Flash #793 comes from writer Jeremy Adams, penciler Roger Cruz, inker Wellington Dias, colorist by Luis Guerrero and letterer Rob Leigh. In the issue, Barry Allen, Wally West and other Speedsters from the DC universe are battling the Fraction, a group of aliens who want to conquer the entire planet and have access to the Speed Force. Working with Impulse, Kid Flash and Max Mercury to clear the way for Wally to destroy the Fraction's ship, Jay is unexpectedly stabbed in the back and through the chest by Vel Anthro, the captain of the Empress' guard.

Vel Anthro says as he stabs Jay, "You thought you had a chance, didn't you? Hiding out in some hold...making plans? You didn't think we'd find out? But we did. Even now, Miss Murder is infiltrating your headquarters, and soon you'll all be in my care. All for the glory of the Fraction!" Jay lives long enough to see Wally become overpowered with an "emitter" weapon, which causes him to disappear while he screams, "Not like this." The last page of The Flash #793 sees Vel Anthro standing over a defeated and seemingly dead Jay. "The only ones that win are those that are strongest, and let me tell you...none are stronger than the Faction," the grinning villain says.

Jay Garrick and Wally West Aren't the Only Major One-Minute War Casualties

The current "One-Minute War" storyline began in The Flash #790 by Adams, Cruz, Matt Banning, Dias, Guerrero and Rob Leigh. Prior to the Fraction's arrival, Barry Allen and Iris West were sitting in a restaurant and about to discuss the possibility of getting married when the aliens arrive. The catastrophic collision of the Fraction's ship caused hundreds of people to perish, one of them being Iris.

In The Flash #793, Barry confirms to Wally that he intended to marry Iris before the Fraction's arrival. "Before they landed, she asked me to marry her," Barry says. "And...we were married...we remember it, at least, but it's not the same. Not until one of us asked. That's who she was, you know? She knew what she wanted and she went for it. It made her a good reporter." Barry continues to explain he also intended to ask Iris to marry him that very same night but never got the chance. "Barry, we're going to make them pay," Wally comforts. "You hear me? You and me...we're going to make sure these people never do this again."

The Flash #793 features cover art by Taurin Clarke and variant cover art by Daniel Bayliss, Marco D'Alfonso, Scott Kolins and Taurin Clarke. The issue is on sale now from DC.
